Staff Profile – Andrew Micallef, Business Development Manager Victoria
Being offered this key role at Protec was perfect timing, according to Andrew Micallef. After recovering from an unfortunate motorcycle accident, he was looking for a new career direction. “I could see what was happening in the market and how Protec was evolving and improving so it’s an exciting role with lots of opportunities.”
Despite a couple of short stints elsewhere, Andrew’s career has focused on the collision repair industry. That includes completing a spray painting apprenticeship and working as a paint technician, as well as a long stretch at PPG as a Territory Manager, a Business Development Manager and an MVP Manager. Andrew reckons the performance and value of Protec’s new product range is getting serious attention in the industry and that’s making his job easier.
“Due to the rising cost of materials, many bodyshops are looking for alternatives but they don’t want to go cheap and nasty. The quality of Protec’s products means they’re perfectly positioned in the market and the response I’ve had has been very positive. I love converting a bodyshop to Protec and seeing them reap the benefits. There’s nothing better than walking in a few months later and finding them excited that Protec is saving them money. We have a terrific regional support team and I’m really looking forward to working closely with them to build strong long term partnerships with our customers.”
